Improve SEO With Free Tools From HubSpot

Jun 30

In honor of Social Media Day (June 30), as designated by Mashable,  I’m sharing info about one of my favorite social media companies … HubSpot.

Whether blogging for fun or profit, the competitive nature in most of us wants to know we’re doing a good job.  Sure, you can analyze traffic reports to see how and when people come to your site.  But … where do you go when you want to see how you measure up with the rest of the world?

The folks at HubSpot have an array of products to let you know how you’re doing.  I was introduced to HubSpot through a LinkedIn webinar invitation entitled: “Improve Your Website’s SEO.”  Although, I didn’t make it to the webinar, I have used Hubspot’s free tools on several occasions to help improve my SEO, branding and overall design.  Yes, I still have a lot of work ahead of me, but I’ve come a looong way, thanks to HubSpot.

I like HubSpot’s Website Grader because it’s fast and simple. All you do is type in the URL you want graded and volia!  HubSpot crawls your site and within minutes produces a snap shot of your site, at no charge to you.

There’s also an option to include a competitor’s site.

So, here’s my HubSpot grade: 59

HubSpot Web Grader

I know, 59 is not that impressive, but it’s doubled since my last score in December.

Although the program has been very helpful with SEO, I’ve noticed some reporting differences.

When comparing my web server’s reports to HubSpot’s reports, I have noticed a discrepancies. HubSpot states there are no external links to my site, while  the analytics from my web server show there are 133 links, and I know for a fact, I have at least three: Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Maybe by Christmas my score will be in the 80s? Wish me luck.  I would love to hear your thoughts about the Website Grader.
