Poetry Slam Day 3: A “Partly” Poem

Apr 3, 2010 by

“Partly Broken”

He stands at the door
hat in hand
wondering
what went wrong

He did everything
he was told
even with a smile

Still it’s not enough
he cannot satisfy her

Her bellows fill the hall
Do this
Do that

No, you’re doing it wrong

Still he smiles
Waiting
Hoping
Praying for a glimmer of affection

Until then …
He waits
and waits

Day 1: A Lonely Poem

Day 2: A Water Poem

Back story …

The Writer’s Digest is hosting its annual Poem-A-Day contest for April, and I’m participating this year.

My goal is to write one poem a day — based on the provided prompt — and submit the best five at the end of April.

I would LOVE to hear your feedback about the poem.

You can read the rules here written by Robert Lee Brewer at his blog Poetic Asides.
