Knock Out Roses: (left to right) Nick Abbate, Lawson Taylor, Jane Tarry, Stefan Turner, and Dan Abbate
After a year in the making, Jane Tarry (vocals), Stefan Turner (guitar), Dan Abbate (drums), Lawson Taylor (keys), and Nick Abbate (bass) emerge as Knock Out Roses, the newest, hard-hitting, soulful band of real musicians to hit Raleigh.
They’re five passionate rockers who have blended soulful vocals and guitar from the band Overproof with the bluesy bass, kickin’ drums, and entrancing keyboards from Nathan Asher and The Infantry, who boasted over 24,000 friends on MySpace.
So, if you liked the bands before, you’re gonna love ‘em now.
Vocalist Jane Tarry belts out songs with emotion, and the guys: Stefan, Dan, Nick, and Lawson all bring their own meaningful twist to each track too.
Check out their first three singles, “Don’t Make Me,” “Reach For Me,” and “Brother,” either on Facebook or MySpace. Friend them and give them some comment love while you’re at it.
The quintet’s Raleigh debut is Saturday, August 15 at the Berkeley Cafe, which is coincidentally the fortieth anniversary of Woodstock. Maybe this is a good omen for Knock Out Roses of the great things to come; they’re already listed in The Independent as an “IndyPick” for shows to see on August 15.
