When Elizabeth Parker Mitchell first got engaged to William Adams Bridgforth III, all she could think about was trying on wedding dresses. She said, “I just knew that I would go to store after and store and try on every dress in North Carolina.” Fortunately, for Parker, five was the magic number on the hunt for the perfect strapless ivory gown.
She found inspiration for her Tiffany blue wedding theme while searching through bridal magazines, one of which was Carolina Bride. A self-proclaimed fan of Tiffany & Company, Parker said, “What girl doesn’t look good in Tiffany blue?”
After visiting numerous ceremony locations, Parker and Adam chose The Hudson Manor of Louisburg for its southern charm and informal feel. Opting for simple elegance, the couple selected The Purple Poppy for their floral needs. The ceremony bloomed with bouquets tied to alternating rows of guests’ chairs and the aisle was drenched with rose petals. Reception flowers flowed from a variety of vases ranging in height from nine inches to five feet. Water in each vase was tinted to match the Tiffany blue bridesmaids’ dresses.
Parker recalled several memorable moments from the day. Walking arm-in-arm with her father, Parker struggled to hold back tears of joy as she made eye contact with husband-to-be, Adam. “He had the most perfect smile on his face and he whispered, ‘I love you’,” said Parker.
Perhaps Adam was smiling because, unbeknownst to Parker, he was about to make good on his promise to wear camouflage at their wedding. Adam, an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and his groomsmen surprised Parker and the guests by putting on camouflage hats immediately after the groom kissed the bride.
Parker said, “It was absolutely hysterical and I just had to laugh at that point. The moment was perfectly Adam.”
She “knew the day would be a blur of emotion” and is happy to have chosen Smitten Photography to preserve moments that they “would relive for years to come.”
